Dubai/ Ruesday August 6, 2013: The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 met at the association’s offices in Dubai on Tuesday. The championship will be hosted by six UAE cities during the period from October 17 to November 8, 2013 namely Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The meeting was chaired over by HE Mohammed bin Badqa, championship manager and attended by all members.
The meeting has discussed the timetables of the different FIFA committees to the six cities. The FIFA delegation will visit on August 17 both Rashid and Sharjah Stadiums, to be followed on the next day by a similar visit to the Emirates Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah, then Fujairah Stadium, Khalifa Stadium in Al Ain City and ends with the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on August 21.
The meeting has also approved the draw procedures ad program as scheduled on Monday August 26 at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The workshops program which will be held on the sidelines of the draw has been approved as follows: August 24: Liaison Officers of the participating national teams briefing; August 25: Media Workshop; Augist 26 (9am): Groups Managers workshop; 12noon: Marketing workshop. The draw will follw at 7pm on the same day.
August 27 (9am): participating national teams workshop to be followed by a visit for the teams’ managers and coaches; August 28: Venues visits, and this will include the matches venues and training facilities as well the hotels in which they will be accommodated throughout the championship. The meeting underlined the necessity of attending the joint workshops and the importance of communications and liaisons between the officials of the LOC and their counterparts in the six groups.
The meeting then reviewed the new appointments in the executive work team including the operations, marketing, event management, public relations, hospitality, food, event coordinators, championship and competitions secretariat.
The meeting has further discussed the work development within the national teams’ services, and the appointment of the remaining teams escorting staff as soon as possible.
The workshop for the participating national teams coordinators will be held on Monday August 12 at the association’s offices in Dubai. All the national teams’ services coordinators have been notified to attend during the field visits of the Fifa delegation and the LOC from August 17 to 21, and the workshops from August 26 to 28.
The meeting highlighted the maintenance and innovational works in the six main venues which will host the championship matches besides the facilities and quarters. The committee was assured of what has been done and what would be done during the upcoming period.
The meeting underlined the media role in promoting and advertising the championship in the required shape while focusing on intensifying the media coverage of the forthcoming important events and on top of these, draw of the championship in Abu Dhabi on August 26 as well as the expected FIFA delegation visit. In this regard, people should make use of the international players with their respective national teams in promoting the championship. It has been decided to hold a joint meeting between the media and marketing to better promote the big international event, considering the important role to be played by the media during and after the championship in order to accomplish the objectives of the big international championship which attracts the attention of the whole world.
