Dubai/ Sunday November 11, 2012: The FIFA delegation visited the proposed venues for the upcoming 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be launched in the UAE in November 2013.
The delegation which is headed by the Rafael Salguero, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, started their tour with a visit to Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium at Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi on Saturday morning.
The official delegation was received by Mohammed bin Badwah, Championship Manager and Talal Al Hashemi, director of sports affairs at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
At the beginning of the visit, a meeting was held with the Championship Manager to discuss a number of issues related to Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, including the venue’s capacity, facilities, average attendance in local competitions and etc..
Thereafter, the delegation toured the stadium facilities and surroundings, such as the stands, VIP stand, Press conferences ballroom, commentators cabins, anti-doping room, medical check up room, referees’ room, players lockers’ rooms which should be fully equipped four rooms, Media Centre, and journalists seating. The officials also examined the natural grass of the pitch and the photographers stand behind the goal keepers.
At the end of the tour, the delegation met with the Championship Manager during which the Fifa officials expressed their pleasure with what they have seen in the same venue which hosted the 2009/ 2010 FIFA Club World Cup. The delegation requested the addition of some requirements in order to keep the place ready for hosting the international event.
Then, the delegation went to Zayed Sports City where the officials have examined the Grandstand and the pitch.
